KORN's JONATHAN DAVIS Bets On Acoustic Dates
October 23, 2006KORN frontman Jonathan Davis recently told AOL Music that doing an acoustic AOL Sessions performance earlier this year had a profound effect on him and his band.
"The AOL thing opened our eyes to so much different stuff," Davis told AOL Music. "When we did that, we were like, 'Oh, God, we can do this and that.'"
After incorporating an acoustic segment into the band's recent Family Values tour, Davis told AOL Music he's going to hit the road with KORN's AOL Sessions backing musicians for a brief acoustic tour, probably around February. "I'm going on a tour by myself with those four guys at all these Indian casinos. I'm going to do a couple of weeks of some old, rare KORN songs and crazy covers."
This is not to suggest that there are problems in KORN-land. Davis said the band's new openness is extending to their next record as well. "We're working with the Matrix and Atticus [Ross] again, and we're just going to see what happens. We've been doing a lot of heavier, more electronic kind of stuff," he said. "It's still in the early stages. I can't really say we've got solid songs down, but the vibe's really cool."
